1st Customer Review : Rugged Case for Rough Enviroments
This case encloses your iphone 3GS in a inner shell that has a screen protector built in. Then the shell is inserted in a
rubberized skin. I dropped my phone a few times at work, and it absorbed the shock with no problems. Phone works great. To some my phone in the case looks a bit clunky, but I rather have the protection. This is a must have if you work in a rough environment. better to have your phone look like a tank then a cracked screen.

No problems listening to the ipod, or making phone calls, the screen is still sensitive with the screen protector.

2nd Customer Review : Robust case
This box is the most robust box I have seen. It has the newer version of the clip..... My other defender box had the older case and the phone kept falling out!! No complaints here though, I emailed otterbox and within a few days a new clip arrived :-)

The price of $19 is excellent. It isn't the best looking case I have seen but that's not why I chose the case it will keep my phone in one piece ... Full stop!
3rd Customer Review : Overkill protection hurts accessibility
I bought this really because the belt clip case system looked pretty good. To start with that, the clip case interface wasn't quite as good as I expected. I prefer clips to be 2 1/4 in. This was only 2 in. Bolstering the phone was a little bit difficult, especially just by feel. I do really like the swivle. I can angle it any way I want.

The case itself is very protective, but overkill. On the face of the case, the edge extends too high along side of the screen. This makes typing and touching the edge of the screen very hard to impossible. I don't think the case needed to be this thick to offer protection.

In the end I returned my case because it was too bulky and restrictive.

Buy it if your on SWAT/military or if youre gonna drop it from high places.
Don't buy it if your not that hard on your phone. You can get lower profile cases that still protect, but offer more accessibility.

1st Customer Review : Balanced review after testing it for a day with iPhone 5
I got my iPhone 5 today (through carrier sources) though it's yet to be activated and the first thing I did naturally was put the Otterbox Defender case on it. I had the Defender for my 3GS and it protected my phone all these years. Didn't have the iPhone 4/4S so I can't compare it to that. Quick impressions so far:

PROTECTION - Protection wise, the iPhone 5 Defender is at par with the 3GS. Industrial grade protection with complete coverage. Same concept and overall design, though the silicone feels slightly thicker and more solid in the 5. The silicone has a matte finish compared to the smooth finish in the 3GS, which hopefully should help avoid dust and lint - this was the only drawback with the 3GS case, it needed cleaning frequently.

BUTTONS/PORTS - Power and volume buttons are covered with silicone shaped like the buttons themselves. No problem pressing either of these buttons with the silicone. The headphone jack, charging port, and silent button have...

2nd Customer Review : Outstanding protection with definite drawbacks
Summary: If you're looking for the best protection for your iPhone 5 right now, this is the case you're looking for. The fit on the iPhone 5 is superb, and the peace of mind it will bring you is worth the cost of entry if protection is the utmost priority. The case makes some compromises to afford you that protection, which could be a dealbreaker if you're not totally onboard with a bulkier case. I'll detail those below.

Installation: Installation is a breeze if you've ever used an OtterBox case before (I hadn't). The best way to start is to open up the tab on the upper left corner by the volume controls, then pull the silicone bumper off the case with your fingertips. Things are easy from that point on.

Durability: Rock solid. I field tested this in NYC over the weekend, and the case acquitted itself very well. Wasn't at all worried about it, and minor bumps and the usual commuter jostling while trekking around the city were no match for this case. I haven't...
3rd Customer Review : An Otterbox is an Otterbox
I have owned and used an Otterbox case for my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 and now, finally, for my iPhone 5.

These cases are great and offer a lot of protection. With that being said, you have to anticipate this case making your phone a little bit bulkier. I personally tend to love the added "bulk" that this case adds to my phone because I have very large hands and long fingers. This case gives my phone the extra bulk needed to allow me to grip it and text without letting my hands get fatigued or painful.

As with all of their other products, this case is extremely well-made and fits the phone perfectly. If you've never owned an Otterbox before then perhaps you should check out some pictures before deciding if this case is right for you. If you've ever owned an Otterbox... Then you know exactly how great these things are.

Here's a funny side story:

I once left my iPhone 4 (inside of its Otterbox, of course) on the of the roof of my car after the...

2nd Customer Review : Beautiful Camo iPhone 4S Case
Before deciding to purchase this case, I was debating on whether to buy the exact same case but with the hunter's orange. I finally decided on the black/camo version because I thought the hunter's orange would start to become irritating to look at all the time! I could not be happier with my decision. The realtree camo looks amazing in person. The level of detail is great, and it is actually part of the silicon (not a sticker!). This case is everything I wanted to protect my new iPhone 4S.

The construction is solid. The hard-shell case clips together perfectly, and the rubber silicon cover that goes around the hard plastic fits like a glove. Be warned, this case is not easy to assemble and disassemble. This case will probably annoy someone who wants to change out cases on the fly. However, I really enjoy this about the case because it feels solid and seamless. I don't have to worry about it coming apart for any reason, or the silicon from slipping off from around the...
3rd Customer Review : Defender or Commuter? Which is better?
Protecting a $200 phone is quite a formidable task and a lot of cell phone case companies do not seem to understand protection. They strive for style, design, and aesthetics. To me, this is all nonsense. Otterbox understands the principle of protection better than any other company making these types of products. Fuction is what I am looking for and and this company produces fuctioning cell phone cases. These 4S generation cases share an improved design, mainly with the camera area. I think people were complaining about shadowed pictures and video due to the tight camera cut out. They widened it to ensure the new 8MP camera with not be hindered by a design flaw.

First, the defender technically provides more protection than the commuter and also comes with a handy holster with a clip. However, the defender is bulky and the port covers do not stay as well as the model for the 3GS. Also, I am not a fan of the defender because of the screen protector it comes with. Eventually,...

1st Customer Review : Love it but......
Love the otter box for I-pod, but it would be perfect if it could dock on the I-home and other devices made for the I-pod without having to remove the otter box. Is there a converter available? I haven't found one yet.

1st Customer Review : Dont listen to the poor reviews!!
So I have wanted one of these for a while now and went on and read a LOT of the reviews here on Amazon. To be honest some of the poor reviews had me a little worried! But I am leaving this review to ASSURE you that nearly ALL of the negative reviews were definitely coming from operator errors (if you get my drift) and people who didnt have ANY idea what they were buying...

Clearly the Defender series is going to be a little beefy. Which I would HOPE is why your looking at this sort of case! For a big-bad iphone defending case! and that is JUST what you get! So the reviews on size I feel are unfair, based on the fact that you should have known its a sturdier case. (I find this NO problem for the protection it provides. Being a girl, I couldnt fit an iphone in my pants pocket to begin with, so its not an issue...And I would like to stress its not THAT big.

2nd Customer Review : Nice upgrade from the original iPhone 4 Defender case
I used the original Otterbox Defender case for my iPhone 4s, and while it worked ok, this version is a definite improvement. The hard plastic case and the screen protector seem to be the same as the original, other than having larger cut outs for the camera/flash and the front camera/light sensor/proximity sensor area. I never had issues using the 4s camera with the older version case, but I did with the proximity sensor and this case fixes that issue.

The holster has been changed to update the release mechanism. The tab that holds the phone in the holster has been shaped differently in order to make the phone easier to clip in and release.

The biggest upgrade is to the rubber jacket that fits over the plastic case. The rubber seems to be of much higher quality. It has a firmer, more substantial feel, and doesn't seem like it will lose shape over time. It gives the case a better grip in your hand and generally feels more solid overall.

3rd Customer Review : Works Great With iPhone 4S
First of all, if you want to protect your iPhone, this is a terrific case. If you want sleek and flashy, keep looking. Don't get me wrong, I like the way the phone looks with the Otterbox on it but there just are not any sequins or monograms.

This is really two cases in one, or, a case with a rubberized cover. When you open the package, you will notice a plastic "clam shell" case that you snap over the phone. The second part of the case is the rubberized cover which wraps around the phone. The negative BUT NECESSARY results about this case is that it will double the thickness of the phone and make it heavier. This case includes a shield that protects the screen so no need to buy those expensive screen protectors. The only exposed area of the phone are the holes for the speakers, microphones, and camera lens.

When I first put the case together, I thought the same as the previous reviewer that the earphone jack hole was in the wrong place. That assumption...

1st Customer Review : Awesome case, but does add considerable bulk...
I waited anxiously for Otterbox to release this case and ordered mine within minutes of receiving the "Defender Released" e-mail. I received the case on Friday and I must admit, it did not disappoint.

First impressions: The case is of great quality and a lot of detail went into making it compatible with all the OEM "accessories". The holster is among the best I've seen for a phone of this size and works perfectly with the case.

After carrying it for two days (and this is already my 3rd iPhone 4 case - I am rough on my phones): The case is without a doubt the most durable I've seen for the iPhone 4 and lives up to the reputation that Otterbox has built over the years.

Cons: The case does add considerable bulk to the phone and may not be perfect for pocket carriers. It does include a holster which works great and can rotate for vertical or parallel carrying of the phone.

Miscellaneous: I have no complaints really, but I am left to...

2nd Customer Review : Beauty and Protection in one Package. An improvement on earlier designs of the Defender
I received my Otterbox Defender for my iPhone 4 and have been testing it in order to write this review. I used the Otterbox Defender for my iPhone 3G and loved it. It provided the kind of protection that I needed for my phone since I was kind of rough on them. But with the earlier Defender case, I found some issues related to the screen and some of the port covers (mainly the charger port). This new case resolves them all. I'm happy that the Otterbox company listened and responded with this new design. It's beautiful, functional, practical -- and for all of the protection it provides from lumps and bumps, it is well worth any extra bulk that you may perceive.

For the 3-layered protection that the Otterbox Defender provides for the new iPhone 4, one would expect a lot more bulk. Not so, it's one of the beautiful things about these cases. Each layer fits perfectly on top of the other one. The silicone is engineered to hug every bevel on the plastic inner case. Both...
3rd Customer Review : Defender - Solid Feel, Great Protection
I pre-order the Otterbox Defender case and it is my first case from Otterbox; I love it. I have tried the Incipio Silicrylic Gel/Shell Combo, Griffin Reveal and the AGF Ballistic Rugged Shell but prefer the Otterbox over all of the others.
(A) INCIPIO SILICRYLIC - The Incipio is nice and provides a soft silicone core which feels very nice to the touch. It also comes with a hard acrylic shell which fits nicely over the silicone core. It is a great case but the Silicrylic does not come with screen protection and I experienced some reflection and flashback problems when taking pictures with the LED flash due to the hole size and tapering. The case itself is a little bit slippery but goes in-and-out of your pocket nicely
(B) GRIFFIN REVEAL - The Griffin Reveal is very basic. It is basically an Apple bumper with a polycarbonate backing. Again, no screen protection and had flashback issues. When I tried using my Invisible Shield with the Griffin, the edges kept peeling back...

1st Customer Review : Great case except the charging port cover falls off due to an obvious design flaw
First the complaint:

I have had my OtterBox Defender case for a little over a month now. I take excellent care of all of my electronics - which is why I bought this case in the first place. However like several other people have reported, the plug that covers the charging port has worn down and finally fell off this past week. This is clearly a design flaw as the the way it is made, the standard HTC cable puts pressure on the piece such that it is bent back awkwardly every time it is plugged in. Due to the nature of these phones, charging is obviously something that is going to need to happen several times a week at a minimum and up to one or more times a day for heavy use. It seems to me that the rubber port falling off is an inevitably and in my opinion this warrants this a defective item.

However while I have certainly read other reviews where users are reporting this problem both here and on the various popular android forms, maybe not every case has...

2nd Customer Review : Overall good but 2 quality problems.
I've had this case since the phone came out. So I've been using this case for several months now. Overall It's a good case. I understand with those who just got it. When you just get it you rave about it, however after some normal use you quickly lose your fervor.

I have three complaints. The first are the same complaint, just in two different parts of the phone.

If you look at the top and right side you will see the headphone jack and the data port respectively. When you put the case on, (very easy although I suggest going to your local store and having them do it, since they use a special solution on the screen so it's PERFECTLY clean. :) They did it for free for me.) You will see that the case covers up these two ports with flaps that are very easy to open and close. When you first get your phone this will work fine and is wonderful... However, after a few weeks-months of use you will find that all the bending of the flaps, (in NORMAL USE!!! The...
