I had a Defender case before I bought this case but found it too bulky along with some other nitpicks. I got this case so that my phone would be protected but wouldn't be a brick. I am a girl, but I still like to put my phone in my pocket sometimes when I am running around the house or stashing it away for a few minutes to free my hands. I find that this fits just fine in my back pockets (I can't comment on my front ones since I never use those to put anything in). I also don't have any issues with trying to pull it in and out of my pocket, it stays and slides out just fine. The screen protector that comes with this is fantastic, easy to apply and no air bubbles. After a few weeks of heavy use, you would never even know I had a screen protector on it (no scratches and it is exposed to keys in my purse all of the time)

I would say that I do not baby my iPhone, I regularly toss it around - although not hard or to a very hard surface or from a great height - and I have a baby who loves to throw and chomp on it when he finds it laying around. My phone also lives in my purse with everything you can imagine a purse to hold and then some. With the case on, I am not too worried about it falling on my tile floor. It also stands up to falling on the ground (usually concrete) when I forget that it is my lap and I get out of the car. Note: My car is not that high off the ground (it's a Fusion). I like the way it looks too, although I bought two cases the red and black and the white and green case then mixed the black silicone with the green hard shell which looks awesome. I wish that the option was available without buying two cases to mix and match - that would be the only con that I have and the reason for four stars as opposed to five.

Overall, it is a great case, the slimmer profile does not take away from the protection in my opinion. I am a fan of OtterBox's products in general, I have them on all of my iPhones and iPods for my family. If you are looking for a less bulky case that looks good and protects your phone very well then this is a good choice in my opinion.
