1st Customer Review : Overall much better than Otterbox defender!
Ok......so I was skeptical to buy this since there are absolutely no reviews for this case. I dont usually do reviews but since there are no reviews of this case I though I should definitely contribute to the amazon community looking for a durable, shockproof and stylish case fot their new iPhone 5. I bought a black iphone 5 as a gift for my dad. He is a guy who has bad luck holding onto his phone and as they say he has the so called butterfingers. He keeps dropping his phone from time to time. So I needed something really durable and shockproof( even though the iphone 5 fairs pretty well compared to the iphone 4/4s in drop tests) and also that was little bit stylish. Many of you would think the first choice would be an Otterbox defender and I did get that along with my phone. But lets be honest the otterbox cases especially the defender series are probably the ugliest and bulkiest cases on the market, but I went with it anyway as my dad needed protection for his phone from day 1. 2nd Customer Review : Do not buy this case. Read my experieince
I purchased this case on September 30th and although it protects my iPhone 5 extremely well. It has a HUGE Flaw that I have e-mailed the MFG. twice about and have had no response at all.
The Flaw is with the plastic screen protector on the top part of the case. As near as I can tell, the case interferes with the iPhone's proximity sensor and does not let me hang up calls or perform other functions while in a call. The screen wil go black and I have to press the home button to get it back. i.e. I am in a call and want to add a call to conference someone in, I press the + to add a call and the screen goes blank or I press the + multiple times and it is like I am not pressing it at all as it wil not respond. It is EXTREMELY frustrating especially when on a business call. I tried a different case for the last 10 days and did not have this problem at all. I put the Gumdrop case back on and the problem is back.
I strongly recommend you do not get this case as I feel...
3rd Customer Review : Perfect fit and grip, great protection
The case fits perfectly and is very comfortable to hold. I have a gumdrop ipad case and it has protected the ipad very well and the rubber case prevents if from falling. As soon as I got the new iphone 5, I ordered the gumdrop case for it. The screen protector works well by preventing drops/moisture from getting to the phone surface. The exterior rubber case fits snugly over the internal hard plastic case.
I highly recommend this over most other cases. It does add a little more weight and width to the phone, but protection and grip far out weight the little extra weight.
